Reversing Rheumatoid other Autoimmune Disorders

50 Years of Reversing Rheumatoid Arthritis

The Goldberg Tener Clinic For Chronic Disease Reversal

The work of the Goldberg Tener Clinic in restoring the health of patients diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and other Autoimmune Disorders, by addressing causal factors, dates back over fifty years.

It began when Dr. Goldberg developed medically diagnosed Rheumatoid Arthritis in 1973. The diagnoses of Ankylosing SpondylitisPsoriatic Arthritis, Fibromyositis and Ulcerative Colitis were later added. His trials and tribulations under medical and alternative medical care led to his studying Public Health, Chronic Disease Epidemiology, Clinical Nutrition, Toxicology, Chiropractic and Hygiene, working at a Hygiene Institute (later becoming the Director), studying at the University of Texas Medical Center and applying what he learned to his own case and recovering his health. From that time forward, after earning multiple professional degrees and diplomates and teaching Clinical Sciences including Functional Gastroenterology and Rheumatology for over forty years, he has devoted his professional life to caring for and successfully reversing cases of Rheumatoid Arthritis and other autoimmune disorders in thousands of patients. Shown below is a recent case from our clinic illustrating the positive outcomes that are possibleClick here to see additional success stories.

The success of the Goldberg Tener Clinic in reversing Rheumatoid Arthritis and other Autoimmune Diseases, is not through any type of medical, alternative medical, functional medical or complimentary medical treatments. It comes about by devoting extensive time and attention to each patient, uncovering and addressing causal factors and re-creating each patient’s health starting at the cellular level. This is a process Dr. Goldberg refers to as Re-Creation which is literally what is initiated and carried through with each person.

We continue to hear the tragic stories of patients who have been treated for autoimmune issues with toxic pharmaceuticals, failing to address the causal factors involved in each patient’s case and having disappointing experiences and often serious side effects.

We understand the pain that patients endure, making life a sea of agony. Patients often go to a wide variety of practitioners from medical rheumatologists to a myriad of “alternative practitioners” prior to seeing us.

What sometimes temporary, symptomatic relief patients find from drugs, the primary medical treatments, frequently comes at the price of damaging their health. There is a distinct difference between suppressing disease symptoms and identifying causal factors and building health.

No Illusions About the Hard Work Required

Even with two experienced doctors jointly doing the initial evaluation of new patients, our Clinic limits itself to four patients per day, the equivalent of two new patients per doctor. This is absolutely necessary as a proper evaluation of a new patient requires more than a superficial history followed by a few tests to name the disease. To the contrary, to understand a patient’s situation in a comprehensive fashion requires one and a half to three hours’ time per patient initially. We must listen attentively to the patient’s entire history starting from birth and childhood to the present, covering a wide spectrum of topics. There is much ground to cover including medical, occupational, family, and social histories, potential toxic exposures, lifestyle analysis, and other aspects of the patient rarely addressed at other clinics but essential to addressing the roots of the patient’s problems. This is followed by a physical examination and choosing appropriate laboratory testing, an area Dr. Goldberg has long experience in having taught laboratory techniques, anlaysis and interpretation to other health care professionals as well as being a former consultant to two well-known medical diagnostic laboratories.

Drs. Goldberg and Tener employ skills learned from studying Clinical Epidemiology, Clinical Nutrition, Clinical Toxicology, Social Sciences, Psychology, Immunology, Functional Gastroenterology, Neurology, Biomechanics and a combined 60 plus years of clinical experience.

Our Clinical work with patients often involves first undoing the damage done from years of drugs including immunosuppressants, steroids (see article/video Problems with Prednisone) and antibiotics, antacids (see article/video How Acid Reflux Drugs Destroy Health) , H2 Blockers, poor diet, stimulants, a myriad of vaccines, lifestyle abuses and excessive use of haphazardly applied “supplements” and ill-advised dietary programs.

Observations

Gastrointestinal tract

We have long noted that patients with Autoimmune/Rheumatoid syndromes have multiple health problems. Commonly seen are digestive issues, fatigue, depression, skin problemscolitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, anxiety, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, allergies, weak/imbalanced endocrine function and other associated impairments needing addressing to bring about a return to health. We understand that every patient is different from the next and must be addressed as an individual, not simply as a diagnostic category. The patient’s general health and resistance must be focused on along with specific factors that are uncovered in each case. The goal is always to bring the patient back to good health… not to “treat” the name of their disease.

We long ago discovered the value of assessing the function of the Gastrointestinal tract in Rheumatoid and other Autoimmune patients where over seventy five percent of the immune system resides. The function of the gastrointestinal tract is important in many patients in uncovering answers to their Rheumatic Disease problems. The systemic effects of GI Dysfunction is a topic Dr. Goldberg began exploring in the late 70’s and wrote published papers on in the early 1980’s. It often surfaces that the patient suffers from some level of chronic indigestion. Patients with Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s Disease, Microscopic Colitis and Whipple’s Disease all have a higher frequency of arthritic syndromes illustrating the close relationship between gastrointestinal function and the Rheumatoid Disorder.  We also understand the importance of uncovering potential toxicity issues in patients (see article, “Environmental Toxins and their Role in Chronic Disease). In the 21st century, there are a myriad of toxins present in our workplace, our homes, our food, air and water. Evaluating toxic levels of glyphosate, volatile chemicals, phenols, parabens, phthalates, arsenic, lead, mercury and other toxins can be critical as these often contribute to immune dysfunction. Our background/professional training in public health, toxicology and epidemiology have proven valuable in this regard.

There are many Rheumatoid Disease Titles, but most serve little use other than to terrify patients who often feel they have been handed a death sentence. This is understandable since (under medical and alternative medical care) Rheumatoid Disorders are typically painful, progressive and disabling. What other outcome should be expected when only the patient’s symptoms are addressed, and causes remain untouched?

There are about a dozen common drugs employed for Rheumatoid Disease patients by medical physicians/Rheumatologists with frequent switching from one drug to the next as a patient’s condition worsens or side effects appear. The drugs used can change over time, but some are almost universally employed. Steroids, whose side effects include severe osteoporosis, diabetes, mental instability, adrenal atrophy and muscle wasting (see video below “Problems with Prednisone”) to Methotrexate (known for producing liver damage) to the much advertised, costly and dangerous “‘Biological Drugs” e.g. Enbrel, Remicade and Humira that carry risks including infectious diseases and cancer. Biological drugs have become the mainstay in the Rheumatologist’s office and are promoted by the pharmaceutical industry with the high monetary profits involved in their sale.

No drug can build health… All carry significant risks.

As each new drug hits the market there is initial excitement followed by the announcement of serious side effect(s) patients begin to exhibit. The medical treatment of Rheumatoid Diseases has the frequent outcome of ongoing disability and pain without health restoration.

Taking a Sane Approach to Rheumatoid Disorders

What is needed is neither Standard Medicine nor “Alternative Medicine”, but a health-promoting approach that identifies and addresses causal factors. The roots of such an approach were established by the works of Hippocrates many hundreds of years ago in ancient Greece. Today, the Goldberg Tener Clinic has modernized this foundational approach, combining it with Clinical Nutrition, Nutritional Biochemistry, Clinical Epidemiology and Toxicology along with highly individualized patient care in a form we refer to as The Goldberg Bio-Hygienic System™.

The Goldberg Tener Clinic has built on the Hippocratic Tradition of seeking out the causes of ill health and employs a comprehensive, individualized approach that is neither “standard medicine” nor “alternative medicine”.  We do not treat disease but place our focus on identifying causal factors and restoring health. This is the practical philosophy that has enabled us to restore the health and vitality of thousands of patients with chronic Rheumatoid and other Autoimmune Disorders. A sampling of video interviews with patients from our clinic are shown below illustrating the positive outcomes that are possible. Click here to see more.
