Chronic Disease Reversal
The appearance of our skin reflects our overall health status. It represents to a large extent how well our bodies are functioning including our digestion, elimination, glands and nervous system. When the skin is healthy we are more attractive to all who see us. Healthy skin goes more than just skin deep.
To have glowing, vibrant skin demonstrates our youth regardless of age. There are few if any disease conditions that don’t affect the skin’s appearance. It is our largest organ and plays multiple roles. It protects our organs and glands. It possesses sweat glands to cool us. It serves as a protective envelope of the body. Little understood by most people, including physicians, is that the skin also serves as a safety valve allowing for elimination of wastes. It is not the largest avenue of waste elimination as compared to the bowels, the kidneys and the liver but it plays a role in this regard.
Skin disorders can occur from external factors such as burns and other outside influences such as poison ivy. Most, however, result from internal body issues brought about by poor nutrition, toxicity from outside sources (exogenous) and/or from internal (endogenous) disorders, infections, glandular disturbances, emotional stress and general failure of the body to keep up with wastes that have accumulated. The skin as such serves as a safety valve when other excretory mechanisms have reached full capacity and are on overload.
Common “diagnoses” such as acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, rashes and rosacea are addressed by Dermatologists symptomatically with drugs. The treatments employed, however, fail to identify the causal factors involved in the problem’s genesis. The employment of steroids, antibiotics and other drugs also carry significant risks of damaging side effects. Even drugs applied to the skin will, to some degree, affect the rest of the body in a detrimental way as they are absorbed. All drugs possess some toxicity.
An example of the folly of medical diagnosis with skin issues is the diagnosis of “dermatitis”. The patient enters the Dermatology Office complaining of reddened, inflamed skin. The Physician hands the patient a tube of steroid cream or pills and tells them they have “Dermatitis”. What does dermatitis mean? Inflammation of the skin, i.e., reddened and inflamed skin. The cause has not been identified. The steroids simply cover up the issue the body is expressing and the problem returns in time often worse than it was originally. The term eczema is also widely bandied about. It is of equally little specificity and also treated symptomatically rather than by identification and removal of causal factors.
We applaud Dermatologists for identifying skin cancers and in executing appropriate surgical procedures. The majority of dollars spent, however, only go “skin deep” as the application of lotions, creams and pharmaceutical agents have only superficial effects on the skin’s health. The same is true for over-the-counter lotions and creams. The employment of natural skin lotions such as Vitamin C Serum and Hyaluronic Acid can play a beneficial accessory role if causal factors have been addressed but they are not primary factors in skin restoration. The skin’s health depends on the health of the rest of the body including the health of the digestive tract, immune system, the liver and the ability of the body to eliminate wastes. It is all connected.
Skin issues are health issues as it expresses underlying disease or good health. Billions of dollars are spent annually on cosmetics, cosmetic surgery, facials, and millions of office visits to Dermatologists which fail to address the causes at play.
At the Goldberg Tener Clinic, we commonly see patients with chronic skin disorders of many varieties, yet we never “treat” skin disorders. Rather than superficially “treat” the outside layer of the body (the skin) we identify and address the factors responsible for the patient’s impaired health that have manifested through the skin.
We don’t treat skin disorders yet we have a long, positive track record of helping patients vastly improve the health and appearance of their skin through Bio-Hygienic/Nutritional reform. This involves a Re-Creation™ process that improves the function of the patient’s entire body from the inside out.
At the Goldberg Tener Clinic, after a thorough evaluation is performed, an individualized Re-Creation™ process is enacted that enables the body’s cells to be rejuvenated throughout the entire organism. This is reflected by our patients experiencing a true rejuvenation as evidenced by healthier skin, nails, digestive function, heightened energy levels, greater flexibility, reduced inflammation and the disappearance of disease symptoms…true rejuvenation throughout… not just “skin treatments”. Rather than treat the outside layer of the body (the skin) we address those factors responsible for the patient’s impaired health that have manifested through the skin. It is rare to find a patient with chronic skin problems who does not have other complaints as well.
Indigestion, fatigue, constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating, depression, lack of appetite, insomnia, headaches, migraines, arthritis, muscular pains, back aches, irregular menses and allergies are a few of the complaints that accompany skin disorders. Determining what the causes of these problems are and addressing them thoroughly returns the skin to good health and the rest of the body along with it. Likewise, it is no surprise that on a routine basis, patients who come to us complaining of other issues are delighted at the improvement of their skin’s condition as their other issues dissipate.
There is often hard work involved. Our patients know that in reversing chronic health issues the body often goes through stages of healing that include eliminating toxic materials stored up in the body. As this occurs, one of the eliminative channels utilized is the skin. In the recovery process, a patient’s skin can at first go through increased symptoms as wastes are discarded. This exacerbation is generally followed by a significant improvement in the patient’s overall health accompanied by a dramatic improvement in the skin’s appearance.
Those patients who have employed steroids, antibiotics and immunosuppressive drugs will have the greatest challenges to overcome. We have patients who have taken such drugs for five, ten or more years prior to seeing us. They will need to not only address the original reasons for their skin issues but will also face the task of dealing with the toxic effects and dependency these pharmaceuticals bring with them.
The rewards? Not just healthy skin but a high level of overall bodily vigor and vitality, of dependable ongoing health that makes our efforts well worthwhile.
